How to Create a Promotion

This article outlines the process to create a promotion in your Price Book

Step-by-Step Process

  1. Go to C-Store Essentials Web Account

    • You can access C-Store Essentials by clicking here or going to https://secure.cstorepro.com

      • Click the “Forgot Password” button if you need help resetting your password

  2. Start Creating a Promotion

    • On the left side of the screen, click on Price Book

    • Next click on Promotion

  3. Enter Promotion Details

    • To begin adding the new promotion, click on the “+” button or “Add New” to start creating a promotion

    • Fill out the following fields:

      • Promotion Name

      • Discount (Promotion) Type

      • Discount Value

    • Click Next to proceed

      💡 Note: The discount types are as follows:

      • Total Price After Discount: Enter the total retail price of the promotion

        • For example, if the promo is “2 for $3,” input 3.00 (without the $ sign)

      • Percent (%) Off Total Price: Enter the percentage discount

        • For example, for a 20% discount, input 20 (without the % sign)

      • Amount ($) Off the Total Price: Enter the dollar amount discounted.

        • For example, for a $0.50 discount, input 0.50 (without the $ sign)

  4. Create a New Promotions List

    • After clicking Next, enter the List name in the New List Name field

    • You will also have the option to use an existing list if needed

      ✅ Note: For new list, we can search items by price dept, scan code, name or Price group. If adding items, select add all or select items one by one to add the items to the promo list.

  5. Configure Promotion Settings

    • Set the following:

      • Promotion Start Date and End Date

    • Click Finish to save the promotion

    ✅ Note: “Number of Item” is the quantity the customer needs to buy to get the promotion (i.e. if promo is 2 for 3 dollars, enter 2 as the quantity)

  6. Send the Promotion to the point-of-sale

    • On the left side of the screen, click on Price Book

    • Next click on Send to POS

    • Click on Send All Item Changes to apply the promotion to your Point-of-Sale system

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of discounts can I create?

  • You can create the following types of discounts:

    • Total Price After Discount: Set a fixed price for multiple items (e.g., 2 for $3)

    • Percent (%) Off Total Price: Apply a percentage discount (e.g., 20% off)

    • Amount ($) Off Total Price: Deduct a fixed dollar amount (e.g., $0.50 off)

How do I add items to the promotion?

  • You can either create a new promo list by searching for items using filters (price department, scan code, etc.) or use an existing promo list

What is the “Number of Items” field used for?

  • This specifies the quantity a customer must purchase to qualify for the promotion.

  • For example, if the promotion is “2 for $3,” input 2 in this field

Do I need to send the promotion to the POS manually?

  • Yes, after creating the promotion, you must navigate to Price Book > Send to POS and click on Send Promotion to apply the changes in your POS system

Can I edit a promotion after creating it?

  • Yes, you can modify the promotion details by accessing the Promotion section in your Price Book.
