Understanding Key Terminology
Net vs. Gross Gallons
Gross Gallons: The amount of fuel you requested at the time of your order.
Net Gallons: The actual amount of fuel loaded into your tank.
❇️ Example: If you requested 5,000 gallons, but your tank only accepted 4,500 gallons, then:
5,000 gallons = Gross
4,500 gallons = Net
You are usually invoiced based on net gallons

When a fuel delivery arrives, the driver provides a Bill of Lading (BOL), which includes:
BOL Number
Net and Gross Gallons for Each Gas Grade
💡 Tip!: The BOL slip does not contain cost information, as the driver does not know the price at the time of delivery
