How to Find the COM Port Number on a Ruby Console

This article outlines the steps to identify which COM Port is being used on a Ruby SuperSystem Console

Note: These steps apply only to the old Ruby SuperSystem

Step-by-Step Process

  1. Access the Sales Screen

  • Press Exit until [SALES] appears on the screen

2. Navigate to Maintenance

  • Use the [Ticket Print/Right Arrow] to move to [MAINTENANCE]

  • Press ENTER

  • Enter your ID and Password (Default: ID = 1, Password = 123)

3. Find the Display I/O Configuration

  • Press ENTER to view 1. VERSION INFORMATION

  • Use the [Ticket Print/Right Arrow] until you reach 3. DISPLAY I/O CONFIGURATION

  • Press ENTER

4. Locate the COM Port Information

  • Continue pressing the [Ticket Print/Right Arrow] until you see a line similar to:

    bashCopyEditgcomms.ldm /dev/com5 19200 n 8 1
  • The COM Port number will be displayed after /dev/com

5. Verify the COM Port for the Back Office Connection

  • Ensure the same COM Port number is being used when connecting the Back Office Network Cable to the Ruby Register
