Prevent issues while Scanning or Sending Items, by excluding special characters and limits with Item and Promotion Name

In this article, we cover the acceptable characters and the character limits, with Item and Promotion Name within CStore Essentials Price Book.

Sometimes, having invalid characters with the 'Item Name', 'Promotion Name', Or 'if the Item/Promotion Name being too long', can lead to problem when Sending or Scanning Items in the POS-Register.

To avoid or remedy this issue, make sure the Item and Promotion Name under CStore Essentials Price Book contains acceptable characters and the character limits.

Here is a list of Accepted Characters:

  • Alpha-numeric (A-Z, a-z, 0-9)

  • Dot or period ( . )

  • Space ( )

  • Minus sign/hyphen ( - )

  • Dollar ( $ )

Characters to avoid,

  • ( Name ) prefix or suffix with unwanted Blank Space

  • Comma (,)

  • Question mark (?)

  • At symbol (@)

  • Ampersand (&)

  • Exclamation point (!)

  • Number/pound sign (#)

  • Single quote (')

  • Tilde (~)

  • Asterisk (*)

  • Underscore (_)

  • Semi-colon ( ; )

  • Plus sign (+)

    etc...

Character Limitations: Approx. 15 characters,

Keeping Item Name and Promotion Name around 15 characters is suitable enough.

Avoid keeping all letters to Caps, as it occupies more space.
