How to Create a JTI LD Cigarettes 2-Pack Promotion

In this example, Buy 2 LD Cigarettes and Save $1 customers receive $1 off when they buy 2 qualifying LD cigarette packs.

This article only covers creating and testing the promotion. For editing, expiring, deleting, or managing existing promotions, refer to the general Manage and Create Promotions


Before You Begin

Before creating the promotion, confirm the following:

  • The LD cigarette items already exist in your Price Book.

  • Each qualifying item has the correct scan code, department, or price group.


Step 1: Log in to your C-Store Essentials Web Account


Step 2: Open the Promotions Page

  1. Go to Price Book β†’ Promotions.

  2. Turn on the Try out the new experience toggle, if needed.

  3. Click Add New Promotion.


Step 3: Enter Promotion Details

  1. Under Add New Promotion window, Enter a clear Promotion Name.

    Example:

    LD Cigarettes – Buy 2 Save $1

  2. Select the appropriate Discount Type for a multi-item discount.

    For this example, the promotion should be configured so the customer receives a dollar discount when buying the required number of items.

  3. Enter the Start Date and End Date.

    Example:

    • Start Date: May 1, 2026

    • End Date: May 31, 2026

  4. Enter a unique Name for Promotion Item List *

    Example:

    LD_2PK_SAVE1

    Use a name that helps you identify the brand, quantity, discount, or promotion period.

  5. Set the Promotion Quantity and Discount

    Configure the promotion so the customer receives the discount only when they buy 2 qualifying LD cigarette packs.

This setup means the customer must purchase 2 qualifying LD cigarette packs to receive $1.00 off.

Tip: 1 - Use a clear promotion name so the promotion is easy to identify later.

2 - Each promotion should have a unique promotion Item List name. Avoid reusing the same list name for multiple promotions, as this can cause setup or sync issues.

6. Add the LD Cigarette Items

Add the qualifying LD Cigarette items to the promotion.

You can select items by:

- Scan Code

- Department

- Price Group

Review the selected items carefully and make sure only the eligible JTI LD Cigarettes are included in the promotion.


Step 4: Review and Save the Promotion

Before saving, review the promotion details carefully.

Confirm that:

  • The promotion name is correct.

  • The promotion list name is unique.

  • The start and end dates are correct.

  • The number of items is set to 2.

  • The discount value is set to $1.00.

  • Only qualifying LD cigarette items are included.

Click Save.

After saving, the promotion will appear in the promotions list.


Step 5: Send the Promotion to POS

After saving the promotion, send the changes to the register.

  1. Go to Price Book β†’ Send to POS.

  2. Send the pending promotion changes to the POS.

  3. Allow couple of minutes for the batch to process.

Step 6: Test the Promotion

After sending the promotion to the POS, review the batch status before testing it at the register.

For Verifone users, promo batches may show as Changes sent to register. After the batch is processed, users may need to sign out and sign back in on the POS before running the promotion.

For Gilbarco Passport users, the promo batch status should show as Success. Once successful, the promotion is ready to scan and run at the register.

Next, conduct a test transaction to confirm the discount applies correctly.

If the promotion works as expected, you are ready to start offering the discount to customers.
